HAPPY HOLIDAYS! The latest newletter is ready but due to printer problems and getting sick, it hasn't gotten mailed yet. Sorry. The deadline for Jackie's Christmas / Holiday gift has been extended for a bit. Send in your contribution soon.
Jackie was the Chairperson of the 2010 Asia Song Festival in Seoul. The organization raised money for the Pakistan Flood victims.
Filming continues on Jackie's latest film, 1911 Revolution, directed by Frankie Chan. I've tracked down some awesome photos of Frankie from back in the days when he was a HK screen idol himself. Look for them in the latest newsletter and the next one as well.

Jackie visited the site of the devastating earthquake in Qinghai Province China. He joined fellow Hong Kong and other artists for a fundraising telethon. The website is: www.artistes414.com where you can make a donation by credit card through the last link and the Bank of China. The phone number is 1833288 but if you are outside Hong Kong, you'll have to add the country code and such and start with your international (IDD) access code +8522. There were many artists that fan club members know taking part in the telethon. I made a donation in the name of the fan club. More details and photos in the next newsletter.
Jackie Chan Fan Club, USA turns 15 this week. Jackie has sent a letter and a photo. Both will be in the next newsetter along with reviews of "The Spy Next Door" and "Little Big Soldier". We also remember with heart-felt sadness that February is the month in which both of Jackie's parents passed away.
The fan club has made a contribution to the Portland Classical Chinese Garden for many years. This is our gift to Jackie for his Christmas / Holday gift and again for his birthday. Just to let you know, the garden has changed its name to Lan Su Garden but it is still the same beautiful garden in the same location. Go visit, and be changed.

Members of the fanclub who receive our newsletter know that one of our fan club members from Portland Oregon, discovered an American TV show from the 1960s which had some episodes filmed in Hong Kong that had, for a few brief seconds, the Seven Little Fortunes.! These pictures are screen captures and are some of the very few photos of Jackie from this time in full color rather than the more common black and white photos and films. This is news that no one knew about until she spotted it late last year. The fan club held a contest to see if anyone could guess which TV show and episode. One enterprising member did guess the show correctly but not the episode. If you are not a member but are interested below is a screen capture. Do you want to send your guesses? First correct guess from a non-member gets a one year membership

It's probably a good guess that the little guy with the monkey face is Yuen Baio

On May 2, 2008, the worst storm to hit asia in many years struck the improverished nation of Burma (Myanmar). On May 12, one of the stongest earthquakes ever recorded struck the Central Chinese province of Sichuan. Both of these events have left death and devistation in their wakes. Charles Chan, Jackie's father passed away on Tuesday, February 26 in Hong Kong, only a few days short of the anniversary of Jackie's mother's death in February 2002. He was buried in the Gungahlin Cemetery, Canberra next to his wife. Many of Jackie's fans and friends had the opportunity to meet Charles and remember him fondly as a friendly and courteous man who always welcomed Jackie's fans as friends. RIP, we will miss you and remember. Our birthday gift to Jackie this year will be in memory of his father. You can send in your contrbutions by mail or through PayPal.

31st HKIFF, Hong Kong International Film Festival, will commence on March 20, 2007. Again this year, they will be showing a movie with Jackie in it. But, this time, a rareity, one made when Jackie was just 20 years old! No, he isn't the star, only a small role, but not just a walk-on part, or as a stuntman. His is a real character who plays a crucial role in the film. The film is The Golden Lotus, and was directed by Li Han-hsiang, and is being shown as part of a retrospective of the director's work. If you are in Hong Kong, or going to be there on March 31, be sure to book a ticket now, as it is only playing one time and at a small venue. You can buy online at: www.hkiff.org.hk. Jackie will be performing as part of the Asian Fusion double extravaganza, on February 13, 2007. The Fusion event goes over two nights, one is the Asian part, the other R & B/Rap, on February 14. Both shows will be held at the Aladdin Resort and Casino.
Coinciding with the celebration of Chinese New Year, Eastern artists will take the stage February 13 with performances by Super Star Jackie Chan, Taiwanese music sensation A-Mei ; pop group Mayday and rock artists Xin Yue Tuan (Shin) and Zhang Zhen Yue , known for his hip-hop collaboration with rapper MC HotDog. Adding to that lineup will be Li Yu Chun and Tan WeiWei , the 2005 and 2006 winners of “Super Girl,” China 's hit version of “American Idol.” Open to all ages, tickets for the East night are priced from $58 to $188.

Bill Tung
RIP 1933-2006
Sad news - Bill Tung Biu, "Uncle Bill" of Project A 2, and Police Story died in Hong Kong on February 22. He was 73 years old and had been in ailing health for some time. Uncle Bill came from a family of horse trainers and as recently as 1997 became a champion horse trainer himself. Those of us who delighted in his heartfelt protrayals in Jackie's films, as well as in many other films, will miss him.

Good news - Jackie is hosting an event for fans in May in Hong Kong.
Bad News - Due to prior committments, involving family and already purchased travel tickets, for the first time, I will not be able to arrange a tour for our members, nor will I be able to attend the event. Of course this is a big disappointment for me, but for everyone else interested in attending, details are on the official website at www.jackiechan.com

Jackie Chan, UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, and Anson Chan, UNICEF HK Vice-Chair, make an appeal for donations for the victims of the SE Asian earthquake and tsunami disaster. .
As UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, Jackie Chan made a contribution of $500,000HK, and urges the rest of us to give as much as we can to help those in need in SE Asia and Africa whose lives have been so disastrously affected by the massive earthquake and following tsunamis. You can contribute to UNICEF, OXFAM, MERCY CORPS, INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF RED CROSS and RED CRESCENT SOCIETIES , and many other organizations. Please, do it now. Anyone wishing to contribute through the fan club, can send a contribution to Jackie Chan Fan Club, USA, either by mail, to P O Box 5193, Vancouver, WA 98668, or through PayPal. All contributions received will be combined and donated to UNICEF.
